CELEBRATING EARTH DAY 2009

APRIL 22 is not only a special day because it is my daughter's birthday, but it is also Earth Day! When people ask my daughter’s birthday, she answers "Earth Day!” way before she learned her actual birthdate.

Like her birthday, Earth Day is a special day because it celebrates the Earth. Every year, America and over 100 different countries join together in celebration of this day. It is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide. On this day, we remember to appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment and find ways to help keep the planet clean.

This year, my daughter decided not to have her usual birthday party with tons of food, piñata, bouncer, magician, games, etc. She decided a family getaway. Fair enough, I guess this is our contribution to the environment. No party trash (i.e. paper plates, paper cups, wasted food, etc.)

Even though she is not having a party, I told her that the whole world will be celebrating with her that day. People all over the world are doing something to make Earth a cleaner, better place. Join this good cause.

For Earth Day, I compiled a list of different events celebrating Earth Day 2009 in Southern California:
