FOREST LAWN 5/1/09 (Hollywood Hills) As part of the Forest Lawn Museum’s History Comes Alive series, “A Visit with Montezuma” is an educational program that consists of one of North America’s most studied historical figures, Motecuzoma Xocoyotzin (also known as Montezuma II), one of the last great rulers of the Aztec people, engaging the audience in an interactive discussion on the history, culture, and lifestyle of the Aztecs prior to the Spanish conquest of Mexico in AD 1521. There will be a question and answer segment for the audience, as well as an Aztec musical performance. It’s entertaining, educational, and free. 9:30 & 11a.m.
NASA JET PROPULSION LAB OPEN HOUSE 5/2/09 & 5/3/09 (Pasadena) This popular event celebrates JPL's accomplishments with exhibits and demonstrations about JPL's ongoing research and space exploration. Many of the Lab's scientists and engineers are on hand to answer questions about how spacecraft are sent to other planets, how scientists utilize space technologies to explore Earth and how researchers are searching for planets beyond the solar system. This is a fun and educational experience for both adults and children, with special hands-on activities designed for kids. Admission and parking is free.
